Books

I am a bit of a fanatic when it comes to gathering information and learning new things. I usually have about 10 books on my bedsite table, and another twenty lurking in my Amazon checkout basket. Here is a selection of the most inspiration books off my collection. I hope you enjoy them! Please leave any comments or suggestions for your own good reads. 🙂

Books

This is a book I am reading now, and I love it. It makes me want to go and search for an Alexander Technique teacher, now! I bought it thinking it would be a book on the right sort of movement, only to find out it’s much more than that: it’s a whole philosophy about how to “use ourselves well” in life. I love the fact it isn’t dualistic. Alexander didn’t make a distinction between the body and the mind, to him, they were one and the same.

Here is a quote from the book which perhaps summarizes the philosophy in a paragraph: “To inhibit is to decide, for yourself, how best to react in any given situation, and to have the ability to carry out your own decisions. There could be no greater source of individual empowerment and emotional well-being.” We can use this principle, every single day, whether it’s deciding how to sit better at our desk, or how to treat our loved ones, or deal with a sudden crisis. A wonderful, enlightening read.
